Criteria
Are you a creative, independent individual who sees through the murky waters of social media mainstream? Can you think for yourself and stick to your guns no matter what? Do you want to make a difference? If the answer to at least one of the above is 'yes' and you apply this attitude in your creative writing, then you've come to the right place!
How to submit
Please send your submission(s), short biography and picture to: writeresquelit[at]gmail.com making sure you have included your name on the file and on the work, and provide us with an email address by which we can contact you. We will not pass on your details to anyone else and only use these for the purpose of contacting you about your submissions.

Submissions Guidelines
Word count and genre
We accept submissions of up to 2,500 words for fiction and prose, up to 40 lines of poetry and no more than 4 pages of A4 for script. You can submit up to two submissions per theme. Be advised that if you submit more than two pieces per theme, your submission will unfortunately be automatically unsuccessful.
Formatting
Please submit your work in Times New Roman font, size 12 and spacing 1.5.
Editing
Please make sure you submit the best version of your work. Take your time to proofread it before you send it to us. It is entirely your responsibility to check your submission for any typos and spelling errors. We do minor complimentary editing (formatting and proofreading), but will not be responsible should your text be published with any errors.
Additionally,

please provide a short biography (a maximum of 60 words) in a separate file. If your work is selected, you would also be expected to provide a clear picture of yourself which will be used to accompany your biography;

if you have chose to make a contribution to the magazine (thank you so much!) and therefore offer a percentage of your submission fee to one or two of the charity organisations we support, please make sure you state the name(s) and number of those organisations in your email, so we know where to send your donation;

in the subject of your email, write SUBMISSION in capital letters followed by your name;

remember to send in your best work that fits our ethos and theme;

Submission Guidelines for Photography
Image requirements:

2-5 images

JPG format

sRGB colour profile

Portrait: 8.5 × 11 in, 300 dpi (2550 × 3300 px)

Landscape: 17 × 11 in, 300 dpi (5100 × 3300 px)
Titles:
-
All pictures saved with the name of the art. Ex: tides.jpg If the art doesn't have a name, save it with number. Ex: 1.jpg

You MUST be the Copyright owner of the photographs you submit.
Additional Guidelines:

Be sure to include a full name and Instagram handle for the entire team (model, agency, hair, makeup, stylist, designer, etc).

Please make sure there is no logo on your images.

We strongly advice all images be retouched and edited before you submit them to us.

Participants who have modelled or posed in the photo have assigned all relevant rights to the photographer, and signed the model release. Once model release is signed, the forms go straight to our email, so on your submission, put the name and Instagram handle of the model, and if the model wants to have their name published or if they prefer to be anonymous. Pictures with models, without the release won't be accepted.
Rights
We will accept pieces provided rights are held by the author. We retain the unrestricted right to publish selected stories in WRITERESQUE Literary Magazine in print and online, and in any relevant promotional material, and will retain copyright and economic rights for our magazine, virtual and in print.
All rights for individual stories, poems, prose, revert back to their respective author upon publication.
The author is free to republish their work, either in part, as a whole, or in an altered form, wherever and whenever they like. Please refer to our Ts&Cs for more information.
We will always try to to offer individual feedback on your work, should we choose not to consider it. However, as we are a small team, this may not always be possible.
For Photography:
We do not require exclusive publishing rights of your photography. The photographer owns all the rights, including copyright, necessary to submit photographs to Writeresque Literary Magazine. For more information, you must read our Terms and Conditions.
By submitting materials, you agree with our Terms and Conditions.
Writeresque Magazine does not currently provide complimentary copies of our print-on-demand publication or pay for your shoots. We send free tear sheets within 1 week before the publication for information review.
Payments & Contributions
The voluntary entry fee per one submission is £5. You can submit up to two separate pieces at a time. Please be advised that if you submit more than two pieces for the same issue, your submission will unfortunately be automatically unsuccessful.
Each edition can be purchased at the price of £8.50. We will only be printing a limited number of copies at first, so make sure your order is placed as early as possible. Alternatively, a condensed online version of each edition will be available for free to Writeresque site members.
Why donate?
Please be advised that our submission fees are voluntary mainly (but not exclusively) to students and people who are struggling financially. We understand times are difficult and the last thing we'd want is financial aspect to interfere with your passion to share your writing with the world.
That being said, please consider donating whenever possible. We will use the money for things like print, website maintenance, cover design etc. But that's not the best part of your donation.
We are passionate about making our world a better place for all, and will stop at nothing to achieve that. This is why your donation is immensely valued not just by us, but by the charity organisations we support. Up to 10% of your voluntary submission fee* will go to the animal, nature or social charity organisations we support.
5% from each submission (£0.25) will go to one charity organisation. If you submit two entries, you can select up to two from the list of charity organisations (10% will be equally split), or 10% to one charity organisation.
£0.70 from every purchased issue will go to a charity organisation. You can select up to two organisations (£0.70 will be split in two).
Make sure you state the name(s) and number of your chosen organisation(s) in your submission email, or as a note when you purchase the magazine, so we know where to send your donation.
Please be advised that a contribution made alongside a submission is in no way a guarantee that this submission will be selected for publication. Additionally, we have a no-refund policy for submission fees and/ or magazine copies purchased. Read more about payments and contributions in our Terms and Conditions.
